North Carolina Vacation

Exploring part of your North Carolina travel at Carowinds campgrounds will not only have you glad you did but your children will know you are the best thing ever!

If you have children under 5 years of age don’t think there is nothing for them to enjoy, there is the Nickelodeon center where the children can enjoy a train trip with Dora the Explorer’s Azul or soar, dive and swirl with Danny-Phantom.  Paws are the part of the experience for the little ones with the full-size Nickelodeon characters throughout the park.

With kids from six – 12 you can keep them excited with either seeing many of the live shows that occur throughout the park all day or visit Nickelodeon-Central where there are more than twenty rides for their age group.  They can even visit Scooby-Doo’s Haunted Mansion!  They will enjoy to free fall into 20 acres of thrills in the theme park.  You will discover fun rides that they will enjoy – even 1 that takes guests 320 feet up in the sky!  Enjoy the “Wild mouse” roller coaster that will give the kids a real thrill or the Scream-Weaver – Gondolas which twirl in a horizontal position and lifts into the vertical angle, skyrocketing riders into upside-down orbit.  Including all these and many more options for the kids they will be busy from the time you enter in until you ultimately get them to depart at the end of the day!

For teens between 12 – 18 the excitement never ends.  They will experience the Nighthawk, the flying coaster and highest one in the park or the Rip-Roaring-Rapids with the white-water raging expedition you can experience in a six person craft (and get really, really soaked).  Of course there are the bumper-cars that are a favorite of most children.  Now envision them on the Thunder Road which is a forward and backward roller coaster.  You may need to plunge down a forty-five foot waterfall to the tidal pool of water below (an excellent opportunity to cool off on a scorching day.)  There are so many rides and attractions for everyone that they may demand you to return with them the next day!

As adults you may feel that you need to sit back and watch the kids have fun…WRONG!  Run out there with them, talk them into going on the Xtreme-SkyFlyer with you and experience the thrill of skydiving as everyone is lifted one-hundred-fifty-three feet in the air and then yank the ripcord for a fifty foot free-fall at 60 miles-per-hour.  (you need to be extraordinarily brave for this one and it does require an additional charge.)

If that isn’t adequate for you then go to the Drop-Zone where you will find a 56 mph one-hundred ft. free-fall.  Probably don’t want to eat just before you do this, could get messy!

The Hurler is the wooden coaster that achieves 50 mph with unbelievable dips and turns.

This is just the beginning of the fun that waits for you and your family in Piedmont on your North Carolina Piedmont vacation!

There is a 25 acre campground at Carowinds with approximately 200 campsites, and fifeteen cabins for rent for those that want to camp right there.  For reservations call 704-587-9116 or 1-800-888-4386 ext. 2116
