Confessions of a AOL Gold Rush Trivia Addict (sarcasm)
Hello My Name is Eric G and I am a GOLD RUSH Trivia Addict.
“Hello, Eric G” said my support group.
It all started when a friend, who will remain nameless sent me an IM asking for the answer to a simple question. I replied immediately with the answer and then asked the reason why.
Then the words and URL that made my last two months a living hell was introduced to me for the first Time. AOL Gold Rush.
You see AOL Gold Rush was an online trivia game. Questions were asked, a clock was ticking, and answers were needed immediately.
I signed up. I played. I researched. I speculated on future questions. I looked for patterns and Code. I felt like John Nash of “A Beautiful Mind” in a conspiracy of trivia.
Pop Culture mind you. Not my Main History Trivia, but a whole new ballgame of useless facts that were stuffed into my elephant clap trap style mind finally had a release.
Ask me a Seinfeld trivia question and I know the answer before you finish the question. I even remember playing an old version of M*A*S*H trivia and never missing a question. I received a copy of “Cheers” trivia for Christmas once and nailed them all.
Yes I am a trivia Junkie!
AOL Gold Rush just feed my addiction. Waiting for the next game release.
The whistles, the sounds, the clock ticking down, growing louder and louder as the seconds ticked away and my answers where misspelled or not capitalized in the answer box. My brow beaded with sweat, my mouth was parched as if I had been in a dessert for days. The anticipation of a new challenge round opening at 12 Noon EST rather than 3PM EST was glorious. The day would not be a total waste when the early games arrived. I could finish them an get on with other projects, rather than watch the clock, tick slowly toward the opening round.
Tick Tick Tick of the Clock, as the heart beats began to race as a challenge was about to open. Tick, Beat-Beat, Tick as I attempt to Login into the game, hoping nothing would interfere with me and my addiction. My Trivia Addiction.
The Charader, The Picture This, Find the Missing items from Pictures, the endless questions on POP Culture Trivia.
I was hooked.
I was theirs, they owned me. They found my weakness. There was nothing I could do, but wait, watch the clock till the next infusion of my drug.
But NOW it’s over. AOL GOLD Rush’s last challenge was asked and answered. The trill, the chase, the hunt, is over.
Tick Tick Tick til we find something new.
Yes I am Eric G a Trivia Addict. (LOL)

After reading the above, I have concluded that you ARE a writer who enjoys staying at home, reading, watching tv, playing games, and are definitely a “people person”. Pictures can be deceiving but my guess is that you could possibly be a baby boomer but perhaps a little younger. None of that really matters. Being married to a journalist, I know a good writer when I see one. Since your addiction article eluded to the 12 step program, and I, participating in the support group, being perhaps a sponsor of sorts, am encouraging you to share your material with the folks at Gold Rush. Perhaps you could be paid for your talent - Lord only knows they need fresh material that is interesting, lighthearted, and funny. They totally flunked the challenge on that one. Thanks for the “confession”. You are one step closer to advancing to the next step.

Me too! Thank you, I will miss the action. You are so funny. I am looking for a game to recommend so everyone can play, but, there is so many junk sites out there who just want your email address. I will check back daily in case someone else comes up with a site.
Take care,

Eric,
Thanks for sharing your personal information. I’m a real people person myself and enjoy hearing about the lives of people I meet (whether online or in line). Nice of you to share. Gold Rush introduced me to another interesting fellow I acquired as a buddy from Rhode Island - he writes reviews for N.Y. Broadway plays. Very cool.
Question of the day!
If one did matriculate did one graduate?
LOL
Later, Sandy
